Start with a brief
A Husky Cars build begins long before the first weld. Every project starts with a written brief — what the vehicle is for, where it will live, what character you want it to carry. We work from that brief, around a Mercedes-Benz 5.5L V8 BiTurbo and full Mercedes electronics.
Four stages, one commitment
We don't take deposits against a catalog. A Husky Cars commission is developed in stages — each one a decision point, each one reversible until the next begins.
The brief
You share the intended use, the region, the character you have in mind. We respond within five working days with an initial direction — honest about what suits your brief, and what doesn't.
Design consultation
A scheduled call or visit to the workshop. We review references, specification options, timelines, and budget. No pressure, no package sheets. At the end of this stage, you have a written scope document — not an invoice.
Commitment & donor
If the scope is right, we proceed with a 15% commissioning deposit. We source or receive the donor Defender, complete a condition audit, and open the build file. From this point, the vehicle is yours.
Build
Most full builds run 8 to 14 months. You'll see the vehicle at the workshop at key milestones — or receive weekly documentation if you're abroad. The last conversation before delivery is a walkaround. No surprises, either way.
What a good brief looks like
The more clearly you describe the vehicle's purpose, the more useful our first response will be. You do not need to specify parts, colors, or technical details — that's our work. We need to understand the vehicle's intent.
